This month is almost gone and Spring Break will be here before you know it. We are still working and playing hard at preschool. We are talking about the letter Rr this week and the sound that it makes. We are also learning about rhyming words and nursery rhymes. Did you know that singing and reading nursery rhymes is one of the most important things you can do to help your child get ready to read or improve reading skills? It sounds simple, but it helps build essential phonological awareness skills for great readers and writers. Try playing games with your child by picking a word and see who can make the most rhyming words...in fact they don't even have to be real words they can make up words as long as it rhymes. Kids love to be silly, so let them, and you will be surprised how much they will learn. Have fun rhyming.
