We have been studying the letters Ff and Gg so far this month. We are working hard on initial sounds and writing our names using only a capital letter at the beginning. We are also counting and working on number recognition.
We are making many special crafts and decorations for the Thanksgiving Program. You are in for a great treat. It will be a very special day. Please return your reservations for the feast if you have not already done so.
It is a busy time of year, but we do have so many blessing to be thankful for....especially our precious children remember to take time out to just enjoy them.

Fire Safety
October is Fire Safety month. We got to meet REAL firemen and Sparky the Firedog. We learned about how to be safe if there is a fire in our houses. We learned that we shouldn't hide from the firemen because they are our friends, stay low and go if there is smoke, stop drop and roll if we
are on fire, and go to a neighbors house to call 911. We practiced dialing 911 at school and discussed when to call 911. Please review your fire safety plan with your family and don't forget to designate a safe place to meet outside of the house. It is even a good idea to practice!
Happy Birthday Kevin!

February 25, 2009
This month is almost gone and Spring Break will be here before you know it. We are still working and playing hard at preschool. We are talking about the letter Rr this week and the sound that it makes. We are also learning about rhyming words and nursery rhymes. Did you know that singing and reading nursery rhymes is one of the most important things you can do to help your child get ready to read or improve reading skills? It sounds simple, but it helps build essential phonological awareness skills for great readers and writers. Try playing games with your child by picking a word and see who can make the most rhyming words...in fact they don't even have to be real words they can make up words as long as it rhymes. Kids love to be silly, so let them, and you will be surprised how much they will learn. Have fun rhyming.
