Welcome to 4K

We had a great first great day today! I really enjoyed spending time with all my new friends. They are super sweet and too cute.
We read The Kissing Hand. Ask your child to tell you about Chester Raccoon and his kissing hand. We also painted something special for you.
Next week we will be learning "All about Me and My Family." Please send a picture of your child and a family picture to school by Friday. We will use the pictures to make a book. We will also spend time writing our names.
Please complete and return any forms you may have at home.
We are off to a great start! I look forward to a great year.

February 25, 2009

This month is almost gone and Spring Break will be here before you know it. We are still working and playing hard at preschool. We are talking about the letter Rr this week and the sound that it makes. We are also learning about rhyming words and nursery rhymes. Did you know that singing and reading nursery rhymes is one of the most important things you can do to help your child get ready to read or improve reading skills? It sounds simple, but it helps build essential phonological awareness skills for great readers and writers. Try playing games with your child by picking a word and see who can make the most rhyming words...in fact they don't even have to be real words they can make up words as long as it rhymes. Kids love to be silly, so let them, and you will be surprised how much they will learn. Have fun rhyming.

December Updates

December is flying by so quickly. We are so busy. We have been working on many crafts and special projects as well as getting ready for the Christmas Program. We are learning about the letter Kk this week. Kk is one of the harder letters to write so if you have a few minutes during this busy time help your child practice writing the letter Kk.
Please check your child's folder for more information about what to wear and details for the Christmas Party.
